The Alienist was hands down, one of the best thriller drama series I have seen in a decade. I just completed the series and decided to finish it as a little treat for the month of October. At first, I was hesitant about watching this because I am not too fond of series and watching multiple shows. I am not too fond of historical shows that are set in different periods. However, I have never felt so agitated to sit through an entire series since I was a teenager. The Alienist has truly impressed me as a television show series and has driven me to review it on my blog.

The Alienist contains the genres of horror, fiction, psychological-thriller, action, gore, and romance. The series will leave you at the edge of your seat wanting for more. The plot of the series revolves around a murderer who is killing young male prostitutes and leaves the bodies of children throughout New York in the 1890s. The protagonist, Dr. Lazlo takes on the case to help the commissioner of the NYPD to find the murderer. He assembles a team of 4 characters (John Moore, Sara Howard, Marcus Isaacson, and Lucas Isaacson) to aid him in taking on this mysterious case.

The story of The Alienist is amazing. If you like psychological thrillers you will like this series. The show is very unpredictable, which I appreciate. Expect the unexpected if you plan to check out the series on Netflix. Each episode had really good pacing. Some episodes would make your heart beat race crazily, while other episodes would help to calm yourself after watching an intense episode.

My favourite characters from the series would be Sara Howard and John Moore (spoiler: an excellent love team). Both characters have amazingly written character developments where they have changed, progressed, and improved as you watch the series. I also love how both characters become independent from Dr. Lazlo and begin to take on the cases alone at some points in the series. These characters are also extremely likable in their personalities and developments as the story progresses.

Overall, I give this film a solid 10 out of 10 witch broomsticks. I strongly recommend everyone to watch the series and form their own opinions on the series.
